Many people do not believe in a
traditional baptism but do want some form of ceremony that
is in response to their needs. The celebration of new life
is a magical time for parents, family and friends. Naming
ceremonies welcome a child into the world and are crafted to
embrace the joy of the family union.
If you decide on a Naming Ceremony, it
does not mean that your child cannot have a religious
Baptism at the same time. You can have a baptism in the
church, followed by the christening celebration at home,
which includes the Naming Ceremony.
An alternative for those without
religious convictions is to use the Naming Service to
celebrate the birth of your child…leaving the child free,
when old enough, to choose, for themselves, any future
religious or non religious commitments or belief.
Jan’s ceremonies reflect the values of
honesty, integrity, tolerance, concern, fairness and love
towards their fellow human beings.
Your child will receive a certificate, as
do the godparents or guardians or mentors, along with a copy
of their ceremony bound in a book as a memento of the day.
Baby naming means:
§ Creating a ceremony
revolving totally around your child
§ Including special poems,
music and candles
§ The whole family can be
involved
§ The family relationship can
deepen, as the child is introduced and welcomed into a
loving circle of family and friends
