Resources - Helpful Hints for a Stress Free Wedding

It is not fashionable today for the bride to be late.

Although events can occur in the bride's preparation to cause her to be late on the day, I strongly recommend you are punctual in consideration to your guests.

Equally, of course, this applies to the Groom.

Both the Groom and his attendants should be on site at least a half hour before hand to be able to greet the guests, and to be ready for the Photographer.

Hairdresser and Makeup

When arranging your appointments with Hairdressers and Makeup, please ensure that you as the Bride gets done FIRST.  This will enable you to be dressed and ready for any home photographs when the Photographer and video operator arrive.

Many thanks for conducting the wedding of my son Mark to Jana at Athol Hall.  The ceremony was absolutely delightful and very meaningful, particularly their vows – so much more appropriate than the standards vows.  The day brought me much pleasure.  Again many thanks for your part in making the day so special.

Photographer

Some photographers forget the time, please ensure that your photographer is aware your wedding is expected to commence on time.

This may mean that you and your attendants have to be ready a little earlier, enabling the photographer to have enough time to do their job.  This equally applies to video operators.

Transport to the Wedding Venue

Let me take this in two parts:

Using limousines or hire vehicles

One week beforehand, contact the company involved and go over all transport requirements, particularly timing of arrival at the bride’s home, departure time and arrival time at the wedding venue, allowing for the photographer, who may take up to 10-15 min.

Ensure that the driver has knowledge of the location and directions to the wedding venue.

Private vehicles

It is preferable that immediate family don’t drive the bride to the wedding.

One week before the wedding at approximately the same time of day, do a practice run from where you are leaving, to the venue

This will cater for about the same type of traffic.

Note the time add 15 minutes and working backwards, calculate the time the bride should be in the car.  Extra time ensures for any traffic diversions, hold-ups, accidents, enabling you to arrive cool, calm and collected
